Current Research

My PhD is based within the NERC FRESH CDT, and focuses upon the bioavailability, retention and fate of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus in constructed wetlands linked to small-packet sewage treatment works (SSTWs). The project aims to improve understanding of the origin and fate of nutrients in freshwater systems, and how wetland management can be optimised to reduce emerging risks to freshwater ecosystems.

This research is in partnership with the British Geological Survey and Wessex Water, and involves in-situ experimental analysis on a constructed wetland in Cromhall, South Gloucestershire. Novel isotope methods, developed by the British Geological Survey, will ...
