8 degrees C of Greenland warming? Ice cores and ice sheet loss during the Last Interglacial

Research summary

My research interests focus primarily on climate dynamics and icesheet-climate interactions. My current research is to understand changes in the Greenland ice sheet and climate during the Last Interglacial.

The last interglacial (LIG) period lasted from 130±1 to 116±1 thousand years ago (ka). This period offers an ideal opportunity to evaluate climate models used in analysing how Earth’s future climate will change.

During the LIG, the Artic climate was warmer than present and the global mean sea level was at least five metres higher than today (IPCC, 2013). It is though that ice sheet loss was a main ...

Biography

In 2008 I completed a Biology degree at Complutense University (Madrid, Spain) specialising in environmental sciences. I then went on to graduate from the School of Industrial Organisation (Spain) in 2011 with a distinction in Environmental Management MSc. From 2011 until 2013 I worked in the Climate Change Division of Repsol as an environmental consultant before figuring out that climate modelling was what I truly wanted to do. I have always been fascinated by global environmental change and modelling of the Earth System so undertook a Masters degree in Climate Change Science and Policy at Bristol University in 2014. My ...
