My interests are in studying how human experience and the brain can be affected by different mental representation and states of attention, such as mental imagery, hypnosis or meditation. I have expertise in using cognitive neuroscience techniques such as electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

The work I conducted during my PhD (completed in 2012, in Toulouse, France) was one of the first to look at the EEG spectrum frequency dynamic during episodes of mind wandering. I also conducted a comparative study of the EEG activity of experts meditators between three different meditation traditions and a meditation-naive control group. I then moved on to a first post-doc at the Biotech Center in Geneva (Switzerland) where I used fMRI to study how hypnotic analgesia may impact higher-order socio-emotional processing such as empathy to pain seen in other. In 2015 I obtained a prestigious Marie-Sklodowska Curie Individual Fellowship and I moved to the University of Plymouth to conduct a project applying machine learning to the decoding of brain EEG signals during mental imagery.

Since September 2018 I am a senior research associate in the Tobacco and Alcohol Research Group where I work with Dr Olivia Maynard to conduct a randomized controlled trial on smoking behaviour and its EEG correlates.
