Conference Overview

Decision making in acute stroke is often problematic due to scarce information from brain status; clinicians are very facing difficult decision, who to treat and how? Recent research has provided evidence pointing to increasing value of advanced imaging in assisting decision making in stroke patient stratification both in the A&E and stroke wards.

The Bristol Stroke Imaging mini-symposium will address the issue of patient stratification from stroke clinician’s point of view. The mini-symposium will bring together healthcare professionals involved in clinical management of acute stroke patients with imaging scientists as well as basic and clinical neuroscientists to discuss about the value and promises advanced imaging data from brain status can offer today and tomorrow to improve the care of stroke patients.

Objectives of the mini-symposium are summarised as follows:

• To communicate key biological information obtained from acute stroke by advanced CT and MRI.
• To demonstrate latest advancements in use of CT and MRI in hyperacute stroke for patient stratification.            
• To demonstrate potentials of CT and MRI in acute stroke patient triaging for rehabilitation.
• To promote use of advanced CT and MRI in management of acute stroke patients.
