My undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering at Bristol kindled my love of composite structures from my second year. My third and fourth year projects with Mark Schenk were based on characterising ultra thin composites analytically, computationally and experimentally. My third year project characterised the in-plane properties of thin, woven composites analytically and computationally, comparing the difference. My fourth year project was a design, build, and testing of a large-rotation four-point bend test, that allowed 180 degrees of deflection and out-of-plane characterisation of thin laminates.
