Since completing my PhD in the area of fatigue of composites in early 2009, I have developed this research through collaborative projects related to the design and failure analysis of tidal turbine blades. I am currently pursuing additional research linked to the application of composites in wind and marine energy applications, including areas such as manufacturing and quality assurance, structural health monitoring and environmental lifecycle analysis. After completing an MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology in 2011, I also have a wider interest in the design and analysis of renewable energy systems.
After undertaking a Year in Industry with Rolls Royce between school and university in 1999, working on gas turbine performance, I completed an Aeronautical Engineering MEng at Bristol between 2000 and 2004. I have remained within the Department of Aerospace Engineering ever since, initially undertaking my PhD, then extending this work as a Research Assistant, before being appointed as a Lecturer in Engineering Design in July 2011.
Since 2008, I have also been closely involved with Low Carbon South West, formerly the Bristol Environmental Technology & Services Sector (BETS), and have focused mainly on developing improved links between the University and ...
