My main research interests are the application of digital signal processing techniques to remote sensing, in particular to weather radar systems, the analysis of the variation of the vertical radar reflectivity profile associated with precipitation events, the development of dual-polarization radar to improve the estimation of precipitation and real-time flood forecasting.
The quantitative measurement and forecasting of precipitation is crucial for predicting and mitigating the effects of flood-producing storms. In recent years the UK has experienced devastating flooding events ...
I've received the MEng. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Guanajuato (Mexico) and the PhD. degree from the University of Bristol. My main research interests are the application of digital signal processing techniques to remote sensing, in particular to weather radar systems, the uncertainty in the measurement of precipitation using weather radar, the development of polarimetric weather radar to improve data quality, the estimation of precipitation for hydrological and meteorological purposes and quantitative precipitation forecasting using radar and Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models. The Water Research Group within the Department of Civil Engineering provides a focus to ...
