Dr Leo Laughlin


Leo received an M.Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of York in 2011, and a Ph.D degree in Communications Engineering from the University of Bristol in 2016. In 2009-10 he was employed at Qualcomm, U.K., working on Physical Layer DSP for GSM receivers. In 2011 he was at Omnisense Ltd, U.K., working on radio geolocation systems. He is currently a Research Fellow in the Communications Systems and Networks Laboratory at the University of Bristol, researching self-interference cancellation technologies for duplexing applications in 4G and 5G mobile devices. He has published papers in high impact journals and has filed four patents. He was recipient of the York Probe prize for best M.Eng. graduate 2011, and the York EMC Services prize for best project in Radio Frequency Enigineering 2011. He was a category winner in the 2015 EPSRC ICT Pioneers competition, and received a Faculty of Engineering Commendation for his Ph.D Thesis in 2016.
