Research summary

Laurence's research is currently focussed on the representation and manipulation of engineering geometry for numerical optimisation. This includes:

  • Surface and volume spline methods
  • Gradient-based optimisation algorithms
  • Computational fluid dynamics
  • Algorithmic differentiation
  • Adjoint methods
  • Mesh deformation
  • High performance computing

Biography

Laurence graduated from the University of Bristol in 2016 with a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering (MEng Hons).

Since then he has joined the Bristol Fluid and Aerodynamics Research Group where he is working towards a PhD under the supervision of Professor Christian Allen and Dr Thomas Rendall.
