Dr. Coon's general research interests lie within the fields of communication theory and networks. More specifically, he is currently interested in the analysis and design of relay networks, multi-antenna and diversity techniques, connectivity properties of random geometric graphs (i.e., stochastic networks), channel coding/decoding, single-carrier and multicarrier systems, and network optimisation. During his career, he has made notable advancements in both practical and theoretical aspects of these topics. (A full, current list of Dr. Coon's publications can be found here.)
Justin P. Coon received a B.S. degree (with distinction and honours) in electrical engineering from Clemson University, South Carolina, USA and a PhD in wireless communications from the University of Bristol, UK in 2000 and 2005, respectively. In 2004, he joined Toshiba Research Europe Ltd (TREL) as a Research Engineer working in its Bristol based Telecommunications Research Laboratory (TRL). During the years that followed, Dr. Coon conducted research on a broad range of communication technologies and theories, including single and multi-carrier systems, estimation and detection, multi-antenna and diversity techniques, and networks. He was promoted to the position of Research ...
