Dr Ioannis Mavromatis

I am currently working as a Research Associate for the Communication Systems and Networks (CSN) laboratory being involved in FLOURISH and NG-CDI projects. I am leading the activities for designing an AI-assisted 5G simulation framework. In the past, I co-led the design and deployment of a large-scale, open-source, low-latency platform for vehicular communications, aided by Mobile Edge Computing capabilities. Also, I was actively involved in several extensive city-wide experimental campaigns for connected vehicles and proposed state-of-the-art algorithms for improving the robustness and availability of heterogeneous wireless systems.

I received my PhD in 2018 from the University of Bristol. My PhD thesis title is "5G Communication Framework for Smarter Autonomous Vehicles". Before that, I received my MSc in "Wireless Communications and Signal Processing" from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Bristol in 2014, and my B.Sc. in "Information Technology" from Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (ATEITH), in 2012. In the past, I worked as a research assistant for University Carlos III of Madrid, where I focused on the energy efficiency and internetworking of WLAN networks and in several companies in Greece as a Network and Computer Engineer.
