Dr. Georgios Zervas is currently a Senior Lecturer in Optical and High Performance Networks at University of Bristol. He received MEng with distinction and PhD degrees from the University of Essex in 2003 and 2009 respectively. He then held the positions of Research Fellow and Lecturer prior to joining University of Bristol.
He has been involved in several current and past EC and EPSRC funded projects as a research/task leader, work-package leader and principal investigator. His research interests include flexible multi-dimensional (space/frequency/time) optical nodes/networks, programmable and cognitive network systems, FPGA-based opto-electronic on-chip and off-chip networking, software/hardware defined network transport/control/management. Dr. Zervas’ research areas address issues in metro/core as well as intra/inter Data Center networks for network-centric applications and services.
He is the author and co-author of over 150 international peer-reviewed journals and conferences including prestigious post-deadline papers at ECOC/OFC. He has also published invited papers and given invited talks at several international conferences. He is acting as a TPC member on international conferences. He is involved, as a co-author of standardization documents, in Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and Open Grid Forum (OGF). He has also filed two patents.
