I am a member of the Aerodynamics and Fluid Dynamics Research Group. My research concerns the development of numerical methods for the prediction of unsteady fluid flows. My main areas of interest are flows about wings and aircraft, rotors, incompressible flows including free surface flows and non-aerospace applications, reduced order modelling, continuation and aerodynamic-structural coupling.
Current Areas of Research include:
-Computational Aeroelastics
-Reduced Order Modelling
-Continuation and bifurcation analysis
-Gust simulation and modelling
Dr. Jones obtained a BSc in Engineering Mathematics from the University of Bristol in 1989. He rejoined the Department to undertake a PhD on the Direct Numerical Simulation of turbulent ducted flows. He was awarded his PhD in 1995. Subsequently he worked in the Department as a post-doctoral researcher developing computational methods to calculate unsteady fluid flows. He was appointed as a Lecturer in Aerodynamics in 2003.
