Mrs Barb Lowden

Biography

Originally as the Secretary for the Dean's Office in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry back in 2003, Barb returned to the University in 2011 to work as a temporary Research Project Administrator for the Mental Health Research Network (MHRN) in the School of Social & Community Medicine.  Prior to her return, Barb worked in rehabilitation case management with clients that had sustained minor or catastrophic injuries in road traffic or workplace incidents, and ensuring these clients received the necessary treatment with minimum delays (for example, surgical, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or psychological treatment).

Barb has also worked in the School of Social & Community Medicine as a Research Secretary for ALSPAC ('Children of the 90's'), and as a Research Administrator for the Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Evaluation of Interventions.  Part of this role also involved her working as an Executive Assistant to 4 academics.

Since June 2015, she has been based in the High Performance Networks Group in the Faculty of Engineering as a Research Administrator and PA to Professor Dimitra Simeonidou.  Barb also works as a Project Administrator for TOUCAN (TOwards Ultimate Convergence of All Networks), which aims to achieve ultimate network convergence enabled by a radically new technology agnostic architecture, targeting a wide range of applications and end users.
