Avril Waterman-Pearson is Professor of Veterinary Anaesthesia and a Pro Vice-Chancellor. She first joined the University as a student, gaining her Veterinary degree in 1970, her clinical postgraduate training (leading to the RCVS Diploma in Veterinary Anaesthesia in 1973) and a PhD (l977) all at Bristol.
Following periods as a Lecturer in Pharmacology at the University of Glasgow and in Veterinary Anaesthesia at the University of Liverpool, she returned to Bristol in 1981 to a Research Fellowship in Veterinary Anaesthesia combining this with duties as Veterinary Officer to Bristol Zoo.
