Andrew Charlesworth's post was initially funded by a range of commercial sponsors, and Andrew continues to work with organisations such as Vodafone, Herbert Smith LLP and HP Labs on a range of legal issues. His research runs across a number of legal subject areas including, but not limited to, information technology law, intellectual property law, e-commerce law, public law, and socio-legal studies. Andrew Charlesworth began his academic career in 1991 as a lecturer at the University of Hull, then Senior Lecturer in 1996. He founded the Information Law and Technology Unit (ILTU) at Hull in 1994 to promote teaching and research into the interaction of law and information technologies.
Andrew was appointed Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bristol in 2001, a joint post in the Law School and Department of Computer Science.
