Research summary

Alexandre Payot's current research interest are related to the challenge posed by topology optimisation for aerodynamics. This includes research into individual components of optimisation framewoks but also the development of tools to assess, understand and quantify the performance of complex processes. In particular this includes:

  • Optimisation Methods, including traditional gradient and agent based methods but also hybrid and exotic design space exploration methods.
  • Convergence metrics and data visualisation methods for agent based optimisation methods.
  • Surrogate Modelling and other data driven approaches.
  • Aerodynamic simulation, notably the reliable automatisation of the CFD meshing and solution process.

Biography

Alexandre Payot completed his undergraduate studies in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bristol, UK, (M.Eng. Hons.) in 2015. He has since been working towards a PhD on the development of methods to enable topology optimisation for aerodynamics under the supervision of Dr Thomas Rendall and Prof. Christian Allen in the Fluid and Aerodynamics Research Group at the University of Bristol.
