Research summary

Professor Sibel Erduran is the Director of Learning Inquiry Thematic Group and the Coordinator of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Science Education (www.facebook.com/cisse.bristol). She is the founder and the former Coordinator of the Developing Inquiring Communities in Education Network. Her research interests broadly concern the inclusion of perspectives on the nature of science and scientific inquiry in science teaching and learning. In her work, she draws from interdisciplinary perspectives on science, particularly from philosophy of science and cognitive studies and combines theoretical work in this area with classroom-based research in secondary schools. Biography

Professor Sibel Erduran is the Editor of International Journal of Science Education, Section Editor of Science Education Journal, and serves on the editorial board of Review of Educational Research among other journals. She is the NARST International Coordinator and Chair of the International Committee and serves on the NSTA Research Committee. She has authored close to 150 publications and made over 130 international/national presentations including plenary speeches at conferences in Taiwan, South Africa, Korea, Argentina, Turkey and Lebanon.
