Summary

My research interests focus upon both the theory and application of multilevel and other latent variables models for data with complex structure in social science. My primary research interest lies in high level multilevel models with real life applications, including but not limited to education. The driving focus of my research is the truly interdisciplinary nature of statistical methodology and the interplay between theory and application.

Biography

I am currently a research associate working with Prof Sally Thomas.

I completed my PhD in Advanced Quantitative Methods in Social Science and Health (AQM) in 2016 at university of Bristol.   My PhD was supervised by Prof Sally Thomas (Graduate school of Education, Universtiy of Bristol) and Prof Fiona Steele (Department of statistics, LSE). My PhD research introduces new methodological developments in multilevel modelling for estimating school and teacher effects on student achievement and progress. It also offers new substantive findings based on secondary analyses of data on senior high schools of one Local Education Authority (LEA) in western China from the ESRC-DFID funded project Improving Teacher Development and Educational Quality in China (ITDEQC)

Before I came to Bristol I hold a BSc in  Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from University of Yunnan and a MSc in Statistics (research) from London School of Economics and Political Science.
