Biography

Prof. Jonathan Drori CBE

Present roles:

Works with Government, charities, academic institutions and large public bodies to help them to innovate and to develop digital, creative and practical business strategy. Used to operating at Board and Ministerial level as  adviser and also as chair and workshop facilitator, building consensus in sensitive and intellectually demanding areasr.

Visiting Professor at Bristol University, specialising in how children learn science and processes to encourage collaboration between technology and educational research.

Chairman of the Board of Governors at Ravensbourne ,a technology focused university-sector college, and Chairman of the Wingate Foundation. Trustee of the Internet Watch Foundation, the Raspberry Pi Foundation and The Eden Project. Former Trustee of The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and Chairman of its commercial trading arm and Visitor Experience Committee. Former Chairman of UK Parliament’s Advisory Council on Public Engagement and Trustee of Wildscreen and the Woodland Trust. Coach to senior scientists and academics helping them to get their messages across to the public, press, officials and politicians more efficiently. 

Various advisory/non-exec roles in entrepreneurial start-ups.

Previously:

At the Department for Culture Media and Sport as Director of Culture Online, a programme to extend the reach of culture and the arts to new audiences using new techniques. He recruited and led a creative team of commissioning executives, producers and technologists winning twenty-eight major awards (including four BAFTAs, the National Newspaper Awards, a Webby and the UN World Summit E-Learning Award), as well as special citation in from the UK National Audit Office for excellent  management of risk and innovation.

Head of Commissioning for BBC Online, BBC Head of Digital Media and Learning Channels, Executive Producer and Director of more than 50 popular science and technology series. Multiple TED speaker, (www.ted.com) including talks on pollen, seed-banks, science misconceptions and the sex life of flowers.

Awarded CBE in December 2006.
