Cassie is a Co-Director of the Centre for Knowledge, Culture and Society; a member of the Faculty Research Centres Anticipation and Democracy and Participation.

Having come into higher education as a mature student after a freelance career in community education, research and theatre, Cassie researches spaces of education such as social movements, autonomous spaces, community groups and 'public pedagogy'. Cassie also has an interest in the politics of social research and research methodology, community and higher education interaction, and other ways of knowing. 

My teaching focusses around social justice and critical theory and I enjoy using democratic education and participatory classroom techniques including negotiated curricula and power sharing.
