Dr Susanna Jenkins

Research summary

My research interests lie in volcanic hazard, vulnerability and risk assessment for the purpose of disaster risk reduction. Recent research has  focussed on developing techniques and frameworks for probabilistic hazard and risk assessment, including quantifying and modelling the impact of volcanic eruptions on communities and infrastructure. I have recently participated in multi-disciplinary field missions to collect rare empirical eruption impact data following the Merapi 2010 and Eyjafjallajökull 2010 eruptions.

Research areas include Indonesia, Italy, Philippines, Iceland, Cape Verde and the Lesser Antilles where I contribute to collaborative research projects with international research partners and civil protection agencies.
