Research summary

The oceans are constantly moving - redistributing amongst other things organisms, nutrients, oxygen and heat, as well as 'undesirables' such as pollutants, debris and invasive species.

My research combines oceanographic model output with biological data to predict how marine organisms are transported by ocean currents. I am curently modelling the dispersal of coral larvae and jellyfish on regional to global scales. Please see my website for more information.

I graduated in Geology with subsidiary Biology and Chemistry in 2004 and then spent 2 years as an aviation weather forecaster with the UK Met Office before leaving to pursue other interests. I returned to education in 2009, building on my background in Earth, biological and atmospheric sciences with a masters in Earth Systems Science, graduating with distinction in 2011. My masters research project, on the link between coral larval dispersal and biogeography, was continued as a PhD which I completed in 2015. Following my PhD I have held 2 postdoctoral positions in the school of Earth Sciences, working under ...
