My work focuses on measuring and understanding the effects ocean acidification and climate change have on marine calcifying organisms. I work on samples both from deep time (geological) as well as modern material (since the industrial revolution) as well culturing under high pCO2. I have a background in oceanography and combine this with geochemical and biological analyses. I use a number of different techniques including Secondary Ionisation Mass Spectrometry (SIMS), electron microprobe (EMPA), Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) as well synchrotron tomographic analyses to build up a comprehensive understanding of how marine organisms respond to climate change.
