My Ph.D is aimed at elucidating and quantifying conduit erosion during active volcanism. Understanding conduit dynamics is of prime importance to volcanology and associated hazard assesment, however, conduit erosion remains very poorly understood and often is not included in conduit process models. Through a combination of field work and finite element analysis, I aim to change that.
