Research summary

Salina sits centrally within the Aeolian subduction arc, with a geochemical signature that shows it to have one of the strongest fluid influences. Recent work has suggested that over the volcanic history of Salina (some 430,000 years), the arc has moved substantially to the south and along with this roll back the descending slab has steepened. One element of my research has been to look across the eruptive history of Salina to look for evidence that supports this view, there should be changes to the major and trace element abundances that help confirm this theory.
