Group leader: Professor Katharine Cashman

The Volcanology Research Group at the University of Bristol is one of the leading volcanology research groups in the UK.

The group aims to understand the physical processes underlying volcanic phenomena and to develop methods of hazard and risk assessment that can be applied to volcanoes world-wide.

Recent case studies and collaborators include the Met Office, Montserrat Volcano Observatory, Eyjafjallajökull, Iceland and INGEOMINAS in Columbia.

Current projects include:

FUTUREVOLC: European volcanological supersite in Iceland
