Summary

My research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of ground deformation seen at a number of Kenyan Rift volcanoes.

All Kenyan volcanoes were thought to be dormant until ground deformation was discovered at four volcanoes in 2009. My project involves investigating these events in more detail by using InSAR, satellite mapping, numerical modeling and fieldwork in order to understand these volcanic systems in much more detail.

I am funded through a NERC studentship.

Biography

I received my MEarthSci from the University of Oxford in 2009 specialising in Volcanology. For my Masters thesis, I investigated the distal ash deposit from the 2008 eruption of Chaitén by looking into the characteristics of the grainsize distributions and using the tephra dispersion model TEPHRA2.
