Foraminiferal reaction to changes in Pliocene Climate

This project aims to understand the changes in calcification observed in different foraminifers in response to climate change. Atmospheric carbon dioxide (pCO2atm) is rapidly rising, impacting the ocean and its organisms. To assess potential impacts of climate change in a warmer, high CO2world, size and weight, both indicators of calcification in foraminifera, were determined during the Pliocene when pCO2atmconcentrations were comparable to today and temperatures 2-3°C warmer.
