Research summary

I am head of the Bristol Dental School Lifecourse Epidemiology and Oral Health Research Group and head of research in the School of Oral and Dental Sciences. I have interests in early life exposures, nutrition, physical activity, obesity, cardiovascular risk and in cleft lip and palate and head and neck cancer. Biography

I qualified in Medicine in 1986 from Nottingham University. I was a Wellcome Training Fellow in Clinical Epidemiology at Cambridge from 1993 to 1997. I was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology in 1997 in the Department of Social Medicine at the University of Bristol. I moved to the Department of Community-based Medicine to become a co-Director of the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) in 2003 and I was a member of the seven person executive that runs ALSPAC until 2012.
