Research summary

My research is focused on the billions of tiny connections in the brain, called synapses, which enable cells of the brain to communicate with one another. Synapses are dynamic and malleable, capable of strengthening or weakening to encode information within the brain. In this way, synapses provide the means by which we are able to learn and recall information via memories. My PhD was aimed at understanding precisely how a specific protein, called tau, might be involved in the modification of synapses.
