  • Ischaemic heart and peripheral vascular disease have been identified as NHS treatment priorities. Frank Smith undertakes collaborative research with Prof GD Angelini, Prof JY Jeremy and Prof Sarah George, at the Bristol Heart Institute, investigating attenuation of medial and intimal hyperplasia in vein bypass grafts (a pathophysiological process accounting for premature occlusion and thrombosis of many peripheral and cardiac bypass grafts) and the vascular biology of aortic aneurysms.
