Biography

Anne is Chief Executive of the British Neuroscience Association (BNA), the largest UK-based professional organisation which represents and promotes both neuroscience and neuroscientists. The Chief Executive is responsible for working with the BNA's governing body to both develop and deliver our immediate objectives and longer-term strategic aims, as well as coordinate the Society's day-to-day activities.

Her background is in neuroscience - she gained MA (Cantab) and PhD in Cambridge before doing postdoctoral research at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Laboratory of Molecular of Biology.  Anne moved to Bristol in 2002 to take on the challenge of launching Bristol Neuroscience, a new initiative to bring together all aspects of neuroscience research and clinical practice in the University of Bristol and associated NHS Trusts.  She later became Research Development Associate in Research and Enterprise Development office, with responsibilities to support both Bristol Neuroscience and the Bristol Heart Institute.  This was followed by a number of years working in the medical devices sector, as Association Manager for the British Anaesthetic and Respiratory Equipment Manufacturers' Association, which involved representing medical device companies and building relations between the NHS, clinicians, regulators such as NICE and MHRA.

Anne has been CE of the BNA since late 2015, which is currently hosted by the University of Bristol - where there continues to be a large and active population of neuroscience reserachers and students.
