Research summary

Alistair has worked in diabetes research since 1986, when he joined the group led by Professor Edwin Gale at St. Bartholomew’s hospital. Initially, working in the laboratory running insulin and C-peptide assays for the BOX study, he then spent time working on a project investigating Islet Amyloid Polypeptide and assisting Dr. Paolo Pozzili in testing agents aimed at preventing diabetes in the NOD mouse. In 1993, Alistair took over responsibility for the day to day running of the ENDIT islet cell antibody reference laboratory and subsequently the islet autoantibody assay laboratory.
