Research summary

My research is focussed on using MRI techniques to understand the structure and function of the neonatal brain, particularly those infants born preterm.

Using these methods to understand patterns of development, maldevelopment and adaptation in the infant brain allows us to understand mechanisms of injury and functional recovery, predict outcomes and promote normal brain development.

I am interested in both the technical challenges of using fMRI techniques in neonates and in understanding patterns of functional connectivity between brain regions in order to drive improvements in clinical care.
