Dr Julia Purser

Biography

I completed my BSc at the University of Bristol (2004), studying joint honours Psychology & Zoology. In 2005 I began my PhD under the supervision of Dr Arthur Goldsmith, studying the influence of social learning and other social cues on the foraging behaviour of the European starling  (Sturnus vulgaris). I completed my thesis in 2008, and was awarded my PhD in 2009 after examination by Professor Kevin Laland and Dr Andy Radford. Since 2009 I have been employed as a research assistant at the University of Bristol, initially helping Dr Andy Radford to set up a new study system investigating the impact of anthropogenic environmental changes on the behaviour of fish, and now as a researcher on a Defra-funded project examining the impact of anthropogenic noise on fish and invertebrates.
