Acrylic resin cast of a greyhound heart

Veterinary Anatomy Museum

Greyhound heart

This is a cast of the coronary circulation of the heart of a greyhound. The technique involves injecting coloured liquid Acrylic into structures (blood vessels, air filled spaces) and allowing it to harden. The soft tissue of the specimen is subsequently macerated away to reveal the cast. This specimen is on display in the Veterinary Museum of the Pre-Clinical Veterinary School on Southwell Street.
