Areas of expertise |
I lead clinical psychopharmacology and neuromodulation clinical studies and the first UK studies of deep brain stimulation in depression.
Our group uses medicines, pharmacological challenges, neuroimaging, sleep electrophyisiology, endocrine measures and qualitative interviews to understand the personal consequences, the brain changes and the soci-economic impact of living with severe psychiatric disorder in particular affective disorders.
I am part of the NICE social anxiety disorder Guideline Development Group and am one of the authors revising the British Association for Psychopharmacology (BAP) guidelines for the treatment of major depression and of anxiety disorders.
My academic work is matched by clinical practice that focuses on the treatment of refractory affective and anxiety disorders
