Areas of expertise |
I am a consultant in Palliative Medicine. Half of my sessions are clinical and half are devoted to teaching and research. I am lead for the fifth year medical undergraduate course, run the medical undergraduate teaching in Oncology and Palliative Medicine and ran the University’s Masters programme in Palliative Medicine until 2013.
I am an honorary lecturer at the University’s Centre for Ethics in Medicine, a member of the Specialist Advisory Committee on Palliative Medicine for the Joint Royal Colleges Physicians’ Training Board and the specialty lead for the Specialty Certificate Examination in Palliative Medicine.
I am involved in research around the influence of care of the dying pathways on patient care, whether attitudes about end-of-life care can be assessed and taught using e-learning and how medical students learn to care for patients who are very ill and will die.
