Areas of expertise |
I am a leading authority on the socio-economic position of ethnic minorities in Britain, especially in relation to employment (incl self-employment), qualification levels and Higher Education, including institutional and cultural racism, the cultural differences amongst the varied groups and issues of identity.
I have been involved in debates about ethnicity and British national identity and have special expertise in relation to how Muslims are adapting to and using various features of British political culture and equality policies, and on anti-Muslim racism.
With European and American colleagues, I have engaged in some cross-national comparative work
