Areas of expertise |
My main interest is in how international development agendas and rapid global change influence teachers' practice and professionalism in low income contexts. Theoretically, I draw on social justice theories and ideas about education for sustainability to conceptualise education quality and the challenges for school curriculum and pedagogy today. I am currently collaborating with a network of teacher educators in Tanzania, who are developing learning resources and pedagogical strategies for lower secondary science and mathematics education. In this context, the transition in language of instruction is a key challenge, so the project is developing an approach that intergrates subject with language learning.
