Areas of expertise |
The group is concerned with the design, synthesis and pharmacological characterisation of analogues of the neurotransmitter glutamic acid in order to obtain selective agonists and antagonists for glutamate receptor subtypes. As glutamate is the major excitatory transmitter in the central nervous system novel pharmacological tools identified in the group can be used to identify the physiological roles of glutamate receptors.
