Spokesperson for the field of physical activity/exercise and public health. Senior scientific editor of the CMO report (2004)and co-author of joint CMOs report (2011) on physical activity guidelines. Adviser to the Health Select Committee Enquiry on obesity (2004). Panel member for Foresight report on obesity (2007). Presenter to House of Lords Enquiry on health behaviour change. Scientific governor of the British Nutrition Foundation. Adviser to Department of Health on physical activity.
Research projects include activity interventions for children and older adults, exercise and mental health, exercise and weight management, theoretical research into self-esteem and self-perceptions.
