Areas of expertise |
My general area of research is Molecular Parasitology, specifically the African trypanosomes. Research interests include the mechanism of genetic exchange (sexual reproduction) in trypanosomes, molecular evolution and taxonomy of trypanosomes, and the epidemiology of sleeping sickness and animal trypanosomiasis. We maintain a colony of tsetse flies to carry out research on the development and differentiation of trypanosomes within the insect vector.
