Areas of expertise |
My research interests are mainly in areas related to translation studies, theatre history and historiography, and adaptations for performance. I am particularly interested in the relationship between translation practice and dramatic tradition and I have recently finished a book, Cultural Dissemination and Translational Communities (St. Jerome, 2007), which explores ways in which an interdisciplinary approach to the study of theatre history can provide insights into the formation of (national) dramatic traditions. This project was supported by an AHRC grant.
Related research interests include the exploration of translation as a methodology for public art, the relationship between folk performance and Realpolitik, and the investigation of translation as performative practice.
