Areas of expertise |
My current research interests fall into three areas: performativity, the politics of the event, and belief. Cutting across these research areas are the three motifs of the body, the event and materiality.
Performativity: My interpretation of the work performativity is stretched across the linguistic and post-structural figuration of the performative based on iteration and différance within an economy of presence/absence, and upon the material, live and visceral act of performance art.
The politics of subjectivity after ‘the Event’: This is a concern for philosophy within social scientific practice.
Knowledge as belief: Bringing together these interests in performance and philosophy creates a final overarching research agenda based on two questions: (1) the questioning of knowledge as something resting on uncertainty and intuition as signed from within our viscerality; (2) the questioning of thought.
