Areas of expertise |
My field of work is neuropathology, encompassing the analysis of brain tumours, muscle and nerve biopsies, cerebrospinal fluid cytology, and post-mortem brain examination. Most of my current research is in Alzheimer's disease and concerns the metabolism and clearance of soluble, insoluble and oligomeric forms of Abeta, alterations in Abeta-degrading enzymes, impairment of TGF-beta signal transduction, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, and vascular factors involved in the development of dementia. My research is supported by the Wellcome Trust, Medical Research Council, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, Alzheimer's Research Trust, British Heart Foundation, Alzheimer's Society and BRACE (Bristol Research into Alzheimer's and Care of the Elderly).
