Areas of expertise |
My research interests focus on population and evolutionary genetics, particularly how maximum rates of adaptation relate to the genetics of quantitative traits. My specific interests include evolution in response to climate change in European butterflies, adaptive divergence along different selective gradients in rainforest Drosophila, and theoretical models of adaptation at range margins. Since such limits to adaptation ultimately drive the assembly of ecological communities, I am also interested in the evolution of assortative mating and the ecology of speciation, with particular reference to grasshopper hybrid zones.
