Areas of expertise |
Our laboratory studies the cellular electrophysiology of cardiac muscle and the generation of arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation (AF). Changes in atrial structure and function in disease may predispose the heart to AF. By recording electrical activity from isolated single cardiac myocytes and from excised perfused intact hearts, we aim to better understand the processes underlying the normal electrical activity of the heart and its modulation in disease states. Our projects are currently funded by the British Heart Foundation.
