現在、英国ブリストル大学タウンゼント国際貧困研究センター所長。タウンゼント国際貧困研究センターでは先進国及び開発途上国における貧困問題に関する学際的研究が熱心に行われている。当センターは、貧困撲滅のための「第一次国連10年(1997-2006)」の呼びかけに応え、及びピーター・タウンゼント教授の功績を表彰するため、ブリストル大学によって設立された。デーヴィット氏は、社会と分配的正義・社会的損害・貧困の科学的測定・子供の貧困と人権問題・児童期の障害・犯罪と貧困・地域ベースの貧困対策・貧困と病気との因果関係・農村貧困に関して、多くの著作を出版した。
